The Malaysian Students’ Associations in the Russian Federation organized the Malaysian Intervarsity Games (MIGA) IX : Gorky Intervarsity Games 2012 in Nizhny Novgorod from 12 until 15 April 2012. This sport festival is an annual event organized by the seven Malaysian Students’ Associations in the Russian Federation namely the Association from Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy (NNSMA), I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (MSMU), Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU), Kursk State Medical University (KSMU), Volgograd State Medical University (VSMU), Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) and State Marine Technology University of Saint Petersburg (SMTU).
This year’s event was the 9th Malaysian Intervarsity Games and Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy (NNSMA) had been chosen as the organizer for the 2012 Malaysian Intervarsity Games. YB Dato’ Razali Hj. Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and Y.Bhg. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar, the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation attended the MIGA IX-Gorky Intervarsity Games 2012 Sports Festival. This event was attended by over 750 Malaysian students. YB Deputy Minister took part in a futsal friendly match with the students and lecturers.
Besides the various sport events, the students from NNSMA also organized the “Malam Perdana MIGA IX GIG 2012” concert on 13 April 2012. During this event, the guests were entertained to interesting performances such as traditional dances, modern dances, musical presentation as well as drama presentations.
The closing ceremony for the MIGA IX : GIG 2012 was held on 15 April 2012 and YB Deputy Minister and the Ambassador were given the honour to present prizes to all the winners. The MIGA X: Gorky Intervarsity Games 2013 will be organized by the Malaysian Students’ Association of the Volgograd State Medical University in the city of Volgograd.
