YBhg. Dato' Zainol Abidin Omar, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation was interviewed by the Russian Business Guide Magazine on Monday, 10 February 2014. This magazine is one of the official publications of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The interview was initiated by the Russia - ASEAN Business Council relating to the upcoming visit by a Russian business mission to three ASEAN countries namely Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. The business mission will consist of 40 Russian companies and businessmen and will take place in Kuala Lumpur from 26 - 27 March 2014. Also present at the interview was Mr. Viktor Tarusin, Executive Director of the Russia - ASEAN Business Council, Ms. Liliya Kulik, Media Director of the Russia - ASEAN Business Council and Mr. Mohamed Hafiz, Assistant Trade Commissioner (MATRADE).
A number of issues were discussed during the interview session including the development and enhancement of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Russia in the political, trade and economic spheres. YBhg. Dato’ Ambassador warmly welcomed the proposed visit by the Russian business community to Malaysia to explore the trade, business as well as investment opportunities available in Malaysia. YBhg. Dato’ Ambassador took the opportunity to inform on the current economic and trade relations between Malaysia and Russia as well as the possible areas of cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. The interview will be published in the March 2014 issue of the Russian Business Guide prior to the Russian business mission to the ASEAN countries.
