The Government of Malaysia donated USD 5,000 to the Russia Muftis Council for the upcoming 9th Moscow International Al-Quran Recital Competition.
The donation was presented on behalf of the Government by Datuk Hj. Nakhaie Hj. Ahmad, Chairman of the Islamic Da'awah Foundation Malaysia to the Chairman of the Russia Muftis Council, Mufti Sheikh Gaynutdin. During the presentation ceremony, Datuk Hj. Nakhaie expressed the Government of Malaysia's hope that the small contribution would go a long way in ensuring the success of the competition, which has been scheduled for this coming Ramadhan.
During the same event, both organisations also signed a memorandum of understanding which underscores YADIM's and Russia Muftis Council's commitment towards enhancing the brotherly relations between both countries. The MoU also provides a basis towards enhancing cooperation in the field of Islamic education as well as Halal-based products.
The Islamic Da’wah Foundation Malaysia (YADIM) was founded in the year 1974 to organise and coordinate with da’wah bodies and to help these bodies to operate in a way of support the advancement of the Ummah, and enhance the understanding of Islam so that the Islamic community will play an active role towards development and progress.
The Russian Muftis Council is a voluntary organisation that was established back in 1996 to consolidate the various Muslim religious organisations in the Russian Federation. Since then, the Council has been the main body that coordinates Islamic activities as well as the propagation of Islam in the Russian Federation. The Council is recognized by the Russian Government and has been involved in the various inter-faith programmes organised under the patronage of the President’s Office as well as the Russian Federal Government.
