MALAYSIA PARTICIPATED IN THE 13TH MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL QURAN RECITATION COMPETITION
Malaysia was amongst 34 countries which participated in the 13th Moscow International Quran Recitation Competition from 13 – 14 October 2012. This annual event is organized by the Russian Mufties Council and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Mr. Muhammad Arif Bin Najib represented Malaysia in this year’s competition while Ustaz Muhammad Hana Pizi Bin Abdullah, the Imam Besar of Majlis Agama Islam, Kelantan was invited to be one of the judges. The representative from Tunisia was the champion of the competition.
YBhg. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar, the Ambassador of Malaysia and his spouse Datin Rusamelia Rusland as well as officials from the Embassy attended the opening ceremony of the competition. Malaysia has been a regular participant in this annual event while Russian participants have been involved in Malaysia’s annual Tilawah Al-Quran.
