Mr. Azraie Abdul Hak, Malaysia's sole representative to the 10th Moscow International Quran Recital Competition finished a respectable third place in the Tilawah category. This is Malaysia's second time attending the competition, the first during the 9th edition of the competition held in 2008. Apart from Mr. Azraie, Malaysia was also represented at the adjudication level whereby Tuan Haji Kadri Abdul Hamid was part of the judges' panel.
While Russia has been known traditionally as an Orthodox state, Islam has continued to flourish over the past few years in Russia. Events such as the Quran Recital competition have been organised by the Russian Muftis Council with the assistance of other NGOs and the Governments of OIC member countries without troubles and difficulties.
