On Sunday, 24 October 2010, Russia Muftis Council organized the 11th Moscow International Competition of the Quran recitation, at the Kosmos Hotel concert hall under the auspices of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.
In the competition, Malaysia who was represented by Mr. Muhammad Anuar Ghazali won third place. The first place was awarded to Mr. Amin Puya from Iran and the second place went to Mr. Mehmet Bilir from Turkey.
After the competition, Mr. Abd. Razak Abdul Wahab, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia met Mr. Anuar to congratulate him. Mr. Anuar also expressed his happiness when he was able to meet the representatives from the Embassy and other Malaysian students who attended the event to support him.
Participants from 25 countries participated in the competition this year. Besides Malaysia, other participants were from Egypt, Bahrain, Turkey, South Africa, Tajikistan, Iraq, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Estonia, Oman, Jordan, India, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iran, Finland, USA, Austria and Russia.
