MEETING BETWEEN H.E. DATO’ ZAINOL ABIDIN OMAR, AMBASSADOR OF MALAYSIA TO THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE SME BANK RUSSIA AND SME BANK MALAYSIA BERHAD, 23 APRIL 2014
In accordance with Malaysia’s effort towards creating sustainable and balanced economic growth, the development of a strong and dynamic Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector remain high in the national agenda. H.E. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation had a fruitful discussion with the representatives from the SME Bank Russia and SME Bank Malaysia Berhad on 23 April 2014. The Meeting was attended by YBhg. Datuk Mohd Radzif Mohd Yunus, Managing Director of SME Bank Malaysia Berhad, Mr. Kirill Semenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board, SME Bank Russia and Mr. Alexander N. Perminov, Deputy Head of Chairman’s Office, SME Bank Russia.
During the Meeting, it was acknowledged that there was a strong partnership between both countries in the field of SME. The Meeting also discussed the opportunities to enhance Malaysia-Russian collaboration in SME such as in Halal Certification, Islamic Banking, tourism and education. In this regard, H.E. Dato’ Zainol Abidin expressed the Embassy’s willingness to assist the SME Bank Russia and SME Bank Malaysia to enhance their cooperation. Besides that, the Meeting also noted that the ASEAN-Russian Business Council had organised a delegation comprising more than 30 Russian companies to visit Malaysia in March 2014 to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment sectors. This visit could boost closer cooperation between Malaysia and Russia in SME field also.
