H.E. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar made a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Sergei Katyrin, the President of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on 24 May 2011. During the courtesy call, H.E. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar was accompanied by Mr. Khairul Nizam Moonier, Trade Commissioner of Malaysia to the Russian Federation. The objectives of the meeting were to meet with the new President as well as to reinforce the good relations between the Embassy and the Russian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Both sides had the opportunity to exchange information on both countries’ economy performance, as well as potential trade and investment opportunities.
H.E. Dato’ Ambassador took the opportunity to encourage Russian companies and investors to explore trade as well as business opportunities and invests in Malaysia. He welcomed trade and investment delegations from Russia to visit Malaysia.H.E. Ambassador also shared his views that trade performance between the Russian Federation and Malaysia could be enhanced by exchanging information and through frequent promotions. H.E. Mr. Katyrin shared the same perceptions and offered the Chambers’ assistance to provide the Malaysian Embassy, through the MATRADE Office, with all the relevant information. The Chambers of Commerce and Industry was willing to provide information on reliable Russian companies which could work with interested Malaysian companies. H.E. Katyrin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with H.E. Dato’ Ambassador and the Trade Commissioner and hoped that the cooperation between the two countries in trade and economy will be enhanced.
