On Tuesday 20 September 2011, H.E. Dato Zainol Abidin Omar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Republic of Belarus, with residence in Moscow, presented his Letter of Credence to H.E. Alexander Lukashenko at the Palace of the Republic in Minsk. Besides the Ambassador of Malaysia, eleven other Ambassadors from Azerbaijan, Brazil, Greece, EU, Zambia, India, Namibia, Serbia, Turkey, Thailand and Ukraine also presented their credentials at the same ceremony.
During the ceremony, President Lukashenko expressed his happines that Malaysia and Belarus have been working very well and he hoped that the two countries would increase their cooperation in various fields. The President further mentioned that Belarus considers Malaysia as an important partner in South East Asia and it has good political cooperation with Malaysia. Belarus is also keen to further develop relations with ASEAN countries and it will continue to play an active roles in Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
During the visit to Belarus, the Ambassador also took the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus H.E Mr. Sergei Martynov, the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BelCCI) and visited Minsk Tractor Works, one of the largest tractor factory in Belarus.
