On 5 Nov 2024, TYT Dato' Duta Besar presented his letters of credence to President Vladimir Putin at the Alexander Hall, Great Kremlin Palace, Moscow. TYT Dato' Cheong Loon Lai is officially the 16th Malaysian Ambassador to the Russian Federation. The ceremony included 27 other foreign ambassadors.
