Study visit of the Director General of IDFR to Moscow

Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, the Director General of IDFR visited Moscow at the invitation of the Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation from 21st until 25th May 2011. He was accompanied by Mr. Vasudiwan Narayanan, the Director of Regional and Security Studies Division at IDFR. The main purpose of the study visit was to exchange views on training programs, research development, research publication as well as to foster closer cooperation between the IDFR and the Russian Diplomatic Academy.

 

Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ku Jaafar had a meeting with the Heads of the various Departments at the Academy and during the session both sides held fruitful discussions on various areas relating to training. Apart from the discussions, the Russian Academy arranged a tour to visit the two main buildings of the Academy. Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ku Jaafar, accompanied by, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar, the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Bazhanov Eugeniy Petrovich, the Rector of the Diplomatic Academy. Several wide-ranging issues were discussed during this meeting especially on diplomatic training programs. Y. Bhg. Dato’ Ku Jaafar expressed the hoped that experts and academicians from the Russian Diplomatic Academy could visit IDFR to deliver lectures on specific subjects. Y. Bhg. Dato’ Ku Jaafar extended an invitation to H.E. Mr. Bazhanov to visit IDFR.

 

The study visit enabled both sides to discuss and identify areas of cooperation in diplomatic training which could benefit both countries.
