On 19th February 2013, Mr. Dinar Sadykov, the Director General of the All Russian Halal Certification Center called on YBhg. Dato’ Zainol Abdin Omar, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the All Russian Halal Certification Center to Dato’ Ambassador. According to Mr. Dinar, the Center will be organizing the 2nd International Halal Congress in Russia which will be held in St. Petersburg in June 2013. In conjunction with the Congress, the Center has invited Malaysian participants including from JAKIM and other relevant organizations associated with halal certification in Malaysia to attend this year’s event.
The All Russian Halal Certification Center is located in Kazan, Autonomous Republic of Tatarstan and is currently the only organization working on the Halal Industry certification in Russia. This Center is supported by the Russian Government. The main function of this Center is to assist in the granting of appropriate halal certification which would enable the export of halal products from Russia. The Center is looking for opportunities to cooperate with other Islamic countries on halal food. Dato’ Ambassador concurred with Mr. Dinar that there is a huge potential for cooperation in the halal industry between Malaysia and the Russian Federation.
