YB Datuk Doris Sophia Brodi, Deputy President of the Malaysian Senate and four members of the Senate undertook a working visit to Moscow and St. Petersburg from 27 June 2013 until 3 July 2013.
On 27 June 2013, YB Datuk Doris hosted a dinner for Malaysian students studying in Moscow and the staff of the Embassy at the Embassy Chancery. While in Moscow, YB Datuk Doris had a meeting with her counterpart His Excellency Umahanov Ilyas Salamovich, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council on 28 June 2013. During the said meeting, both sides had discussed various issues pertaining to bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Russian Federation namely in the fields of trade and investment, tourism, education and defense. Both sides had also expressed satisfaction on the level of cooperation between the two countries and were optimistic that bilateral cooperation could be further enhanced in the future.
After the visit to Moscow, Datuk Doris and her delegation visited St. Petersburg on 29 June 2013 where she held a meeting with Her Excellency Zakharenkova Tatyana Yakovlena, Deputy of the 5th Convention for International Relations of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly.
