On 29 September 2010, Youth and Sports Minister YB Dato' Ahmad Shabery Cheek accompanied by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Datuk Richard Riot arrived in Moscow for a working visit to meet Malaysian students in the Russian Federation.
During the visit, YB Dato' Ahmad Shabery met the students at Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) and Russian State Medical University (RSMU) before hosting ‘Majlis Mesra Aidilfitri’ at the Malaysian Embassy in the evening. In his speech, YB Dato' Ahmad Shabery urged Malaysian students in Russia to safeguard the image of the country as they are also the ambassadors of the country.
The dinner was attended by 600 Malaysian students from 3 universities in Moscow which 38 of them came from Nizhny Novgorod State Medical University.
