At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Embassy of Malaysia in Moscow participated in the XXIV Summer Diplomatic Games that took place on 26 August, at the Zavidovo Recreation Complex, Konakovo District. The said annual sporting event organized by Main Directorate for the Service of the Diplomatic Corps (GlavUPDK), received the participation from more than 25 foreign Embassies.
Armenia, Belarus, India, Indonesia, Iraq, China, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Kenya, Cuba, Malaysia, and Mongolia were among the countries that took part in this annual diplomat sporting event. Same as the previous years, this year’s event was held in a festive and eventful manner - combining competitive excitement with relaxation in a picturesque location.
As part of the opening ceremony, a video message by the Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov was played that highlighted how this annual event helps to strengthen the atmosphere of friendship and trust between the Kremlin and foreign Diplomatic Mission in Moscow. FM Lavrov wished the participants of the competition "an honest fight, a healthy competitive spirit, a charge of positive emotions and all the best."
For the 2023’s Summer Diplomatic Games, all teams from the diplomatic missions of different countries, including Malaysia were invited to compete in eight types of programs namely, basketball, volleyball, mini-football, tennis, billiards, athletics cross-country, skeet shooting and sport fishing. In addition, sports and entertainment relay races for families, a kite festival and creative master classes were also held.
