H.E. Dato’ Syed Bakri, Malaysia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led the Malaysian delegation to the 21st United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) General Conference held in Riyadh from 23–27 November 2025.
In its statement, Malaysia welcomes UNIDO’s Medium-Term Programme Framework (2026–2029) in line with its national goals to build resilient, high-value industries and create quality jobs, as well as promoting the circular economy through sustainable production and better resource use.
The Malaysia MADANI Economy, launched in 2023, together with key plans like the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, National Energy Transition Roadmap, National Semiconductor Strategy, and Green Investment Strategy, is guiding the country’s shift toward a more inclusive, sustainable and competitive economy.
Malaysia has a long-standing partnership with UNIDO since 1980, including work under the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) and Country Programmes (CPs), such as the current project on Decarbonization and Sustainable Cities for a Net-Zero Future.
