VISIT BY YABHG TUN ABDULLAH AHMAD BADAWI, FORMER PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA TO RIYADH SAUDI ARABIA, 13-14 MARCH 2011

YABhg Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Former Prime Minister of Malaysia,has been awarded the prestigious King Faisal International Prize (KFIP) for his Service to Islam. YABhg Tun received a certificate summarising the laureate's work, a commemorative 24-carat gold medal and a cash endowment of SR750,000. Tun Abdullah who arrived Riyadh on 13 March 2011 was accompanied by his wife YABhg Tun Jeanne Abdullah and Officials from YABhg. Tun's Office.

A panel of judges chaired by HRH Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz Al Saud Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence and Aviation Saudi Arabia selected YABhg Tun Abdullah as one of the seven winners in four different categories. 

YABhg Tun Abdullah was selected for the prize in recognition of his outstanding services to Islam and Muslims, both within Malaysia and abroad.  YABhg Tun accomplishments included strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation through his active leadership of South Asian countries, as well as playing a "major role in reinforcing Malaysia's economic development and encouraging Islamic studies".  TYT Prof. Dato' Syed Omar and YBhg.  Datin TuanWatimah Al Jufree  as well as the officers from the Embassy of Malaysia in Riyadh were also attended the Award Ceremony.
