18TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF KELAB MALAYSIA THAILAND

28 MARCH 2009

Kelab Malaysia Thailand held its 18th Annual General Meeting last Saturday at the Exhibition Hall of the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok. It was attended by 20 of its members of which 18 were eligible to vote. It was the first time that such meeting was held at the premises of the Embassy. The Embassy was represented by Mr. Jai Shankar, Trade Counsellor, and Mr. Nazarudin Ja’afar, Second Secretary.

The meeting, among others, re-elected Mr. Bobby Tai as its President who in turn would appoint the committee members of the Kelab, in line, with the provisions of the constitution. The meeting also passed five new resolutions to increase the tenure of Presidency and other committee members to two years instead of one as being practiced in the past. It further decided to increase the membership fee to Baht 500 from current Baht 300 with effect from 1 May 2009. In the deliberation of the activities carried out in the past year, the meeting took note that Kelab Malaysia Thailand had successfully organised a wide range of social activities to strengthen the camaraderie among its members such as lunch-together session at Kopitiam Restaurant, Merdeka Games which was held in collaboration with the Embassy as well as by playing host to the ASEAN Nite 2008 held on 25 October 2008 at Centara World. Needless to say the Kelab had also contributed generously to the commendable efforts by Max Chong, a Malaysian cyclist who was on a five-country cycling expedition to create awareness and raise funds for cancer patients under the patronage of MAKNA in November 2009.

It is hoped that the new line-up of the committee members would strive to bring Kelab Malaysia Thailand to a greater heights with strings of more productive and memorable activities.
