H.E. Dato’ Husni Zai Yaacob paid a courtesy call on H.E. Chai Chidchob, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand at the latter’s office on 29 July 2009. Also in attendance was Mr. Nazarudin Ja’afar, Second Secretary at the Embassy.

 

2.         Essentially, both spoke extensively on the upcoming 30th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 30) scheduled in Pattaya from 3 – 8 August 2009. Dato’ Husni relayed that the Malaysian delegation to AIPA 30 will be led  by the Hon. Tan Sri Amin Pandikar Mulia, the Speaker of the House Representative and will comprise 10 Members of Parliament and several accompanying officers. Other than the above issue, Dato’ Husni and H.E. Chai Chidchob also discussed the ongoing conflict in southern Thailand where both were optimistic that the issue could be resolved peacefully and Malaysia will continue to play her role in providing assistance through the 3Es initiatives with a view of helping the human capital development for the people in the region. It was also agreed that Malaysia and Thailand should continue to strengthen the existing bilateral relations and increase the exchange of visits at the highest level.


3.         It was evident throughout the 20-minute courtesy call that both countries enjoy warm and cordial relations at all levels.
