For all of us who are abroad, every festive season will be an episode of missing our family and homeland. In order to compensate our cravings and light up our celebration mood, the Embassy of Malaysia, Bangkok has organised Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration with Malaysian Diaspora residing in Bangkok on 6 May 2023 at Baan Thai Boutique Hotel. The event was attended by 250 people including Embassy’s Officials and their families, Locally Recruited Staff (LRS), Malaysian Community and several Thai guests.
The event started off with the remarks from H.E. Datuk Jojie Samuel, Ambassador of Malaysia to Thailand. In his remarks, H.E. Datuk Jojie wished everyone a prosperous Hari Raya Aidilfitri and encouraged all Malaysians to keep their spirit of unity and foster attitude of kindness, mercy and courtesy to help those in need regardless of race and religion in line with the concept of Malaysia Madani. He also requested Malaysians to always preserve the good name of our country.
The guests were served with sumptuous Malaysian delicacies including Nasi Briyani, Lemang and Rendang, Ayam Goreng Bawang, Kuih Lapis Sarawak, Spring Roll, and Kuih Raya (Traditional Malay Cookies). Besides that, the children were excited to receive ‘Duit Raya’ from H.E. Datuk Jojie and spouse, Datin Catherina Cherian.
The Raya Celebration has provided an opportunity for Malaysians to meet each other and celebrate the special occasion as one Malaysian family. It has also created a new bond and friendship between Malaysians here in Thailand.
Overall, the event showcased Malaysian unity and harmony abroad.
