The Embassy of Malaysia hosted a dinner in honour of 30 MTCP alumni members at the Multipurpose Hall of the Embassy. Other than MTCP Alumni members, about 40 other “Friends of Malaysia” attended the function comprising those from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Thai Police, Thai – Malaysia Association and members of the media.

2.         The organisation of the dinner was meant to honour members of the alumni and more importantly to reinforce the relations and networking with them. Meanwhile, the presence of Friends of Malaysia was to widen the networking among those present. In the words of Dato’ Husni Zai Yaacob in delivering the welcoming remarks, he underscored the importance of MTCP as a foreign policy tool to share Malaysia’s experience with other countries notably in strengthening the South-South cooperation. As the MTCP would celebrate its 30^th anniversary in 2010, Dato’ Husni had called all members of the alumni to share their views on how the programme could be further improved and serves the needs of its target audience better.

3.         The event received an all-rounded praise by the invited guests and the close and warm relations between the Embassy and those present was evident throughout the evening. Other than enjoying the sumptuous Malaysian cuisine prepared by Restoran Cili Padi, one of the three Malaysian-owned restaurants in Bangkok, the invited guests were entertained by Petaling Jaya City Hall cultural troupe which had put up a sterling performance by amalgamating the various ethnic dances in Malaysia, in line with the spirit of 1Malaysia. The troupe happened to be in Bangkok for the 17^th Discover Thailand & Discover World Fair at IMPACT Arena.
