Dato’ Nazirah Hussain has been invited to preside over the opening ceremony of the Centre for Middle East Studies and ASEAN Community Library at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University on 16 January 2012. Other than Malaysia, representatives from the Embassies of Egypt and Kuwait were also present.
In her congratulatory speech, other than congratulating the university for the establishment of such centre and library, Dato’ Nazirah had also dwelled on the importance of promoting greater understanding and appreciation on the distinctive multi-cultural and multi-religious issues premised on the cardinal principle of moderation. In addition, she also underscored the importance of ASEAN as a regional body which will mould the future direction of its citizens in the future in view of the establishment of the ASEAN Community in 2015.
