Her Excellency Dato' Nazirah Hussain, Ambassador of Malaysia to Thailand attended the Qatam (completion) Al Quran ceremony at Tongsun Mosque in Bangkok on 10 January 2016.
The event was presided over by HE Ali Wong Alaya, former Thai Minister of Interior. Around 100 students were honoured in the ceremony.
It was the first ever programme organised by the one of the oldest mosques in Bangkok (estimated 400 years old).
Aside from bringing back a long-forgotten tradition, the event was also meant to inspire the usage of Al Quran in one's daily routine.
In her speech, Dato' Nazirah touched upon the importance of also understanding the tafsir (translation) of Al Quran. Only through a deep understanding of the Quran that one can be successful in life and the hereafter.
In line with our public diplomacy drive, the event has managed to bring the Embassy closer to the local community in Bangkok.
