RAYA GOLF 2008

The event was organised by the Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand in lieu of the traditional Merdeka Golf which could not be organised this year as it coincided with the fasting month. The event had been successfully organised at the Bangkok Golf Club in Pathumthani Province, approximately 40 minutes away from Bangkok.

2.         A total of 74 golfers took part in the competition including those from the Embassy of Malaysia, Thai MFA, Royal Thai Police and military, members of the diplomatic corp., members of the Malaysia – Thai Chamber of Commerce, Thai private companies as well as Malaysian students in Thailand. Of the 74 golfers, Khun Pajongwit Pongsivapai from Glow Group, Thailand emerged as the overall champion with a score of 69 at par 72. Other than winning him a trophy, he also bagged other prizes such as golf bag and a return air ticket to Malaysia for two persons.

3.         Besides the overall prize for the champion, there were also scores of other lucky draws such as air tickets from Thai Air Asia, golf bags, gift vouchers from hotels, health check-up vouchers, electrical appliances, to name a few. The organisation of this year’s event had been made possible with the generous sponsorship from many Malaysian and Thai companies. The event was then concluded with a dinner in honour of all participants at the golf club.
