H.E. Dato’ Jojie Samuel undertook a Working Visit to Southern provinces - Songkhla, Pattani, Yala & Narathiwat.
Day One -
As part of ongoing cooperation with Thailand to further boost economy sector, H.E. Ambassador held engagement sessions with the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) and the Songkhla Chamber of Commerce.
Session 1: Dr. Nattachai Warrasuth, Chief of Songkhla Animal Quarantine Station led the DLD delegation. The session enables H.E. Ambassador to be briefed on the importation of live cattle and buffalo to Malaysia and discussed possible future collaboration in this area.
Malaysia has lifted the ban on the import of cattle and buffaloes from Thailand on 16 March 2022.
Session 2: H.E. Ambassador met with the Songkhla Chamber of Commerce to exchange views and discussed ways to enhance the Malaysia - Thailand border trade via increased cross border investment and trade activities.
Border trade accounts for 50% of the total trade value between Malaysia and Thailand.
