Arrest/Detention by Local Authorities

Relative/family/acquaintance can lodge a written report about the arrested/detained person at the address, telephone number and email in the main page of this website. 
 
Among the information required for the report are as follows:

i. Name of the arrested/detained person
ii. Passport and Identification Card number
iii. Date and place of arrest/detention
iv. Telephone number of place of arrest/detention
v. Cause of arrest/detention

The Embassy will investigate the case and the family will be notified of the result of the investigation. 
If the family requires legal assistance or need to visit the arrested/detained person, the application has to be submitted to the Embassy. All cost incurred will be borne by the family. 
After the completion of sentence (if found guilty), the person will be deported back to Malaysia. In few cases, cost of deportation will be borne by the host country. Otherwise, the family has to bear the deportation cost and the arrangements for deportation are as follows:

i. Deposit the required amount to the Embassy. A receipt will be issued. 
ii. The family will be informed of the details of arrival. The family will have to wait to receive the person at the airport or other entry points in Malaysia.
