The relative or next of kin in Malaysia should report death at the address given in the main page of this website.
Information and documents required are as follows:
i. Name of the deceased
ii. Passport and Identification Card Number
iii. Address of the deceased abroad
iv. Address in Malaysia
v. Occupation
vi. Cause of death
The Embassy will investigate the death. Relative or next of kin of the deceased will need to decide the place of burial, either abroad or in Malaysia.
2. Burial in Malaysia
The Embassy will obtain the estimated cost of the repatriation which will have to be deposited by the relative or next of kin to the Consular Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia in Putrajaya. A receipt will be issued.
The Embassy will carry out the repatriation process.
The Consular Division will notify the family on the flight details for the arrival of the remains.
3. Burial Abroad
The Embassy will coordinate the burial process.
All cost incurred will have to be borne by the relative or next of kin which have to be paid to the Consular Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia in Putrajaya. A receipt will be issued.
The Consular Division will submit the following documents to the relative or next of kin:
i. Acknowledgment letter from the respective mission
ii. Certificate of Health
iii. Certificate of Death
iv. Certificate of Burial
v. Death Report
vi. Copy of Passport/Identification Card (original document will be submitted directly to the respective departments in Malaysia).
