Mr. Chair,
I wish to thank the Special Rapporteur for the presentation, particularly her view on the importance of adopting and implementing preventive measures for children to address the increasingly contextual challenges stemming from the digital world.
2. Malaysia fully supports children’s access to the digital environment and their ability to express their views and opinions, in line with rights provided under domestic laws and regulations.
3. The Internet and social media provide learning and developmental resources for young people to communicate and interact with the global community on various issues. However, we cannot overlook the fact that along with this potential, the Internet also exposes our children to a wide range of threats such as cyberbullying, cyber-grooming, identity theft, pornography and other elements of violence.

4. My question to the Special Rapporteur is, in your opinion how can we streamline the efforts of member states to further protect children worldwide from the threats of the cyber sphere and what can we leverage on from the UN system that can help us in this endeavour?
