ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION (OIC) ANNUAL COORDINATION MEETING
OF FOREIGN MINISTERS

Excellencies,
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Mr. Chairman,
1. As the U.N. marks its 80th anniversary this year, we are reminded of another milestone – the founding of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on 25 September 1969.
2. For 56 years, the rights of the Palestinian people has been a cause that has long stood at the heart of the OIC’s mission.
3. Yet, despite our sustained efforts, the inability, or unwillingness of the international community to act decisively, particularly in stopping the atrocities in Gaza, has severely undermined the pursuit of a just and lasting peace.
4. This paralysis has been compounded by the continued provision of unconditional support given by Israel’s allies, emboldening the Zionist regime to act with flagrant impunity.
5. The result is catastrophic: indiscriminate killings, mass civilian casualties, widespread destruction, and blatant violations of international law.
6. The recent assault by the Zionist regime on Qatar has only worsened the situation. This brazen assault, on a neutral and crucial peace mediator, demonstrates the tyrannical regime’s readiness to target any nation, in pursuing its oppressive objectives.

7. The OIC must speak with one voice. We must defend our Member States from such transgressions, and stand firm against those who undermine peace, stability, and international order.
8. We must deploy the full range of diplomatic, political, and economic tools at our disposal to hold Israel accountable.
Mr. Chairman,
9. Just two weeks ago, the U.N. General Assembly sent a resounding signal of global conscience, by overwhelmingly supporting a resolution on the Question of Palestine.
10. The growing international recognition of Palestine’s right to statehood, alongside the call to realise the two-State solution, is a step forward in our long-standing pursuit of justice.
11. Yet, it must not end there. They must be accompanied by concrete action. The path to lasting peace is through the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Israel, from the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and the right of return for the millions of Palestinian refugees.
Mr. Chairman,
12. Malaysia is increasingly concerned by the rising tide of Islamophobia, a phenomenon that threatens to divide societies, fuel extremism, and undermine global peace and security. Recent anti-immigrant demonstrations in various parts of the world are deeply troubling.
13. In confronting this challenge, Malaysia urges wisdom over hostility. We must not respond with anger. Instead, we should actively promote positive narratives of Islamic culture, and highlight the significant contributions of Muslims to global civilisation.
14. Our response must be rooted in dialogue, understanding, and inclusion. To this end, Malaysia reiterates its call for strengthened collaboration between the OIC’s Special Envoy on Islamophobia and the U.N. Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia.
15. By aligning our efforts, we can foster mutual respect among cultures and faiths, dismantle prejudice, and build more inclusive societies.

16. As Chair of ASEAN, Malaysia remains concerned by the protracted conflict in Myanmar and the worsening humanitarian conditions. We believe that the only viable path forward, lies in a constructive and inclusive approach.
17. Malaysia will continue to support efforts, in establishing conducive conditions that can facilitate the speedy repatriation of the forcibly displaced Rohingyas.
18. In the pursuit of justice and accountability, Malaysia reaffirms its strong commitment to supporting the case filed by The Gambia before the International Court of Justice.
19. In this connection, Malaysia is pleased to announce an additional contribution of USD 100,000 to the OIC Fund for Rohingyas. We thank Member States who have contributed to the Fund, and urge more to do the same.

20. Malaysia extends its best wishes to Azerbaijan and Iraq, as they prepare to host the 16th Islamic Summit and the 52nd Council of Foreign Ministers next year. We look forward to working closely, with both countries, in shaping outcomes that are both impactful and transformative.
21. In closing, allow me to reaffirm Malaysia’s enduring commitment to the principles and aspirations of the OIC. We remain guided by our belief in peace, justice, and solidarity. And our conviction that through unity, we can build a future rooted in shared progress, dignity, and hope for all.
