HIGH-LEVEL MEETING OF THE GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE – “RECOMMIT TO OUR ORIGINAL ASPIRATIONS, UNITED TO BUILD A BRIGHTER FUTURE OF GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT”

H.E. Mr. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China,
H.E. Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations,
Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am honoured to join this timely event which rightly underscores the urgency of renewing the aspirations of standing united to build a future where development is once again at the heart of our collective work.
I also wish to thank the distinguished panellists for their thoughtful interventions, which have enriched today’s deliberations.
The messages by Premier Li and Secretary Guterres remind us that unity, solidarity and real cooperation are vital to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Global commitments must be matched with real support for developing countries. Malaysia values the South-South Cooperation and our own cooperation with China shows how joint efforts, whether in trade or people-to-people links, bring real life benefits.
Malaysia also sees the potential areas of utilising AI in areas such as healthcare, agriculture and education. But we must ensure AI is used responsibly, guided by ethics and inclusivity, so it empowers rather than divides. Malaysia will continue to work all partners in achieving this brighter future.
Let us move forward together towards peace, stability and shared prosperity.
