AT THE INFORMAL WORKING GROUP OF THE PREPARATORY COMMISSION FOR THE ENTRY INTO FORCE OF THE AGREEMENT UNDER THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE LAW OF THE SEA ON THE CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABLE USE OF MARINE BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY OF AREAS BEYOND NATIONAL JURISDICTION AND THE CONVENING OF THE FIRST MEETING OF THE CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES TO THE AGREEMENT

Malaysia aligns itself with the statement delivered by the distinguished representative of Iraq on behalf of the G77 and China.
In a national capacity, Malaysia commends the Secretariat and co-chairs for preparing a document that is fit for purpose.
Regarding question 4, as highlighted by many distinguished delegates, Malaysia wishes to reiterate the importance of the fund's modality in a predictable, adequate, simplified application and easily accessible manner.
On cooperation between Secretariat, the established mechanism must promote coherence, complementarity, and cooperation between the secretariat and GEF secretariat and other relevant institutions.
