Ground Breaking Ceremony held in Phuc Thanh Commune, Kinh Mon District, Hai Duong Province

 

On 9 September 2011, H.E. Dato’ Azmil Mohd Zabidi, Ambassador of Malaysia to Vietnam attended the Ground Breaking Ceremony for Infrastructure Works of Hai Duong BOT Thermal Power Plant Project in Phuc Thanh Commune, Kinh Mon District of Hai Duong province (~105 km from Hanoi). The event was organized by JAKS Hai Duong Power Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JAKS Resources Berhad (Malaysian owned company) with the cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam. Among those who attended the ceremony were H.E. Madam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Vice Chairman of National Assembly of Vietnam; H.E. Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam; Mr. Bui Thanh Quyen, Member of Centralized Party, Provincial Party Committee Secretary; Mr. Andy Ang Lam Poah, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of JAKS Resources Berhad.

H.E. Dato’ Azmil was also given the opportunity to deliver his remarks. The Ambassador congratulated JAKS for its success and requested continuous support from the Government of Vietnam and the Hai Duong People’s Committee to JAKS to complete the project. Ambassador also highlighted the progress of our bilateral relations with Vietnam including accomplishments made in trade and investment.

The project as reported is the largest foreign direct investment project in Vietnam, received high attention from the leaders of the Government of Vietnam with the presence of the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and the Deputy Prime Minister. The power plant project would provide an abundant power source for Hai Duong province and the country, as well as boosting trade cooperation between Malaysia and Vietnam.
