LATEST PROCEDURE – EXIT AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MALAYSIANS INTO MALAYSIA
1. The Department of Immigration of Malaysia updated the entry and exit requirements for Malaysians into the country during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period beginning 15 September 2020.
2. The updated procedures are as below:
2.1 Exit from Malaysia
- Categories that does not require approval from the Department of Immigration of Malaysia
- Diplomats and Dependents that will be working abroad
- Students (continuation or new admission)
- Students that will be sitting for examination overseas
- Long Term Visa holders (Permanent Resident, Resident Pass, Work Permit and others)
- Working with oil and gas industries and shipping companies and requires to SIGN-ON on vessels overseas
- Recently received job offers from overseas
- Accompanying children for studies (limited for 2 persons only).
Categories above must submit proof / documentations as above to the Immigration Officials at exit points prior to travelling out of the country
- Categories that require approval from the Department of Immigration of Malaysia
- Attending meetings / seminars / exhibitions / business meetings
- Emergency matters
- Categories that are not allowed to exit Malaysia
- Tourism / Travels / Holidays
- Visitation of family members
2.2 Entry into Malaysia
- Malaysians that have exited the country during the MCO period are allowed to re-enter Malaysia without getting approval from the Department of Immigration of Malaysia.
- However, upon entering Malaysia, those Malaysians are not allowed to exit the country without getting approval from the Department of Immigration of Malaysia even though they hold the Permanent Resident pass of another country.
- Malaysians from restricted countries and / or holding long term visa from restricted countries are allowed to enter Malaysia even though they have been out during the MCO.
