OUR STUDENTS ARE NOT FORGOTTEN On 9 December 2016, Acting High Commissioner Mr. Agus Salim Yusof paid a visit to Malaysian students who were studying at Madrasah Arabia Islamiah, Krugersdorp, south of Pretoria. There are 57 Malaysian students in this madrasah, the highest number among students from various countries. They are doing Islamic studies and aged between 14 and 28. Four other students from a madrasah in Lenasia also attended the gathering. After the Friday prayer, the students enjoyed lunch prepared by the High Commission before listening to some words of encouragement and advice by the Acting High Commissioner. The students were visibly pleased with the visit. According to the management of the madrasah, the Malaysian students are the most disciplined and well-behaved. Two days later, on 11 December 2016, ladies from the High Commission’s Ladies Association (PERWAKILAN) visited our female students at the Madrasah Darul Uloom Zakariyya in Lenasia, Johannesburg. They spent more than 2 hours interacting with the 12 students. Beside lunch, the ladies brought foodstuff based on the girls’ requests. They were getting close, so much so that tears were shed when it was time to say goodbye. Malaysian High Commission Pretoria
