H.E. Kennedy Jawan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Republic of South Africa , as the Chairman of ASEAN Pretoria Committee for six months from July 2009 to December 2009 hosted the 1^st ASEAN Heads of Mission Meeting 2009 at the High Commission of Malaysia in Pretoria. The Meeting was attended by all Heads of ASEAN Mission in Pretoria (Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).

Discussion focused on the ASEAN - South Africa bilateral issues and programmes for ASEAN Missions. Events for the upcoming programmes are ASEAN Day, ASEAN Bazaar as well as sports and other activities.

THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA – MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME ALUMNI GET-TOGETHER

HIGH COMMISSION OF MALAYSIA, PRETORIA, 27 JULY 2009

On 27 July 2009, the High Commission of Malaysia, Pretoria held the South Africa MTCP Alumni Get – Together at the High Commission of Malaysia. The objective of the session was to get in touch and re-establish contact with MTCP Alumni members as well as fostering the relationship that had been built between Malaysia and MTCP Alumni members which is in line with the spirit of South-South cooperation.

A total of 11 MTCP Alumni members were present. H.E. Kennedy Jawan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Republic of South Africa welcomed all MTCP Alumni members and acknowledged their presence which marked the strong relationship that has established between Malaysia and South Africa. Comments and suggestions as well as feedback received were very positive and encouraging. Most of the members benefited from the course they have attended and wished more officers from South Africa will be given the chance to attend courses under the MTCP.
