VISIT BY MINARA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
On 2 February 2016, the High Commission received the delegation from Minara Chamber of Commerce. The 6-member delegation was led by its President, Mr. Ebrahim Patel. The visit and meeting was part of the High Commission’s continued efforts in promoting trade and investment, as well as tourism sector between Malaysia and South Africa. In his welcoming remarks, HE Amb. Dato' Badruddin Ab Rahman, briefed the delegation on the country's policies such as the Economic Transformation Programme and Government Transformation Programme. The High Commissioner expressed hope for more cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries. This was followed by slide presentation by the Directors of MATRADE and Tourism Malaysia in Johannesburg about their respective agencies, Malaysia's trade and tourism policies and bilateral trade and tourism developments. The President of Minara Chamber of Commerce stated that the Chamber cherish the close relations with the High Commission and MATRADE and hoped that Malaysia would re-emerge as the biggest foreign investor in South Africa, as it once was.
