With 161 participants from 28 different nations, the 2023 International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) Asian & Oceanian Championship in Abu Dhabi ended on 5 November 2023. The competition that took place at the Dhabi Marine Sports Club saw our young Malaysian sailors emerge as the champion for the Silver Fleet Category. For the overall championship, Thailand won the first place, Singapore claimed second while Malaysia and the UAE tied for the third place. 31 matches were sailed under a competition format where the 16 participating teams had to avoid two defeats in order not to be eliminated directly from the competition.
