YAB Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim undertook a working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 5-6 October 2023. YAB Prime Minister’s inaugural visit to the UAE was accompanied by YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Foreign Affairs and YB Senator Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry. The working visit to UAE was made at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
During the Audience with H.H. President of UAE, YAB Prime Minister extended to H.H. President the greetings of KDYMM SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong and KDYMM’s wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the UAE and its people. In response, H.H. President conveyed his greetings to KDYMM SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong and extended his best wishes for the ongoing positive developments of Malaysia and its people.
Both leaders affirmed their commitments to accelerate the existing strategic partnership between the two countries, especially in the areas of economy, trade and investment, renewable energy, and food security. YAB Prime Minister and H.H. President exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.
YAB Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for UAE’s warm reception, highlighting Malaysia’s keenness to expand collaboration with the UAE across various sectors, in particular trade and investment.
YAB Prime Minister further expressed Malaysia’s commitment and support for the UAE in hosting the 28th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC – COP28). YAB PM further shared Malaysia’s commitment to advancing global agenda in accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement to address the impact of climate change. Both leaders then adjourned for a four-eye meeting which lasted for one hour.
The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court, H.E. Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, H.E. Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment, H.E. Ahmed bin Ali Mohammed Al Sayegh, Minister of State from the UAE side.
