On 7 September 2025, H.E. Tengku Dato’ Sirajuzzaman Tengku Mohamed Ariffin, Ambassador of Malaysia to the UAE, attended a talk titled “Patronage and Empowerment in Art” featuring renowned collectors Aliya and Farouk Khan in conversation with Meagan Kelly Horsman, Managing Director of Christie’s Middle East, at the Cultural Foundation Abu Dhabi.
The discussion explored the impact of collecting and cultural patronage in shaping contemporary art across the Global South, highlighting perspectives on the growth of the arts and the evolving role of collectors in the region.
The talk also marked the closing event of the landmark exhibition “To Know Malaysia is To Love Malaysia: Highlights from The AFK Collection”, which ran from 10 April to 10 September 2025.
