MALAYSIANS IN UAE JOIN EMBASSY AIDILADHA DO

ABU DHABI, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysians from across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) made a beeline for the Malaysian embassy here Friday for the Aidiladha open house.
The mission threw its doors open for guests from 4pm to 7pm but, according to its charge d'affaires Abdullah Ma'amor Ibrahim, people still turned up at 8.30pm.
"Of course we didn't turn them away. Luckily we had prepared enough food for our guests," he told Bernama.
And the Malaysians as well as foreigners present were not disappointed as a wide array of Malaysian delights like satay, nasi goreng, mee goreng, ayam masak merah, ayam kurma and nasi lemak were on offer at the buffet spread.
Abdullah said most of the food was prepared by members of Perwakilan, an acronym for "Persatuan Wanita Kementerian Luar Negeri", both in Abu Dhabi and Dubai where the Malaysian consulate-general is located.
"It's a way for us to promote Malaysian food among foreigners as well," he said, noting that more than 1,000 people had turned up for the Aidiladha do.
The Malaysian consul-general in Dubai, Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin, attended the event along with the heads of Malaysian government agencies based in this Gulf nation which celebrated Aidiladha on Monday.
