Meeting With UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators

On 24 May 2023, YBhg. Dato' Mohamad Razif bin Haji Abdul Mubin, Deputy Secretary General, Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) accompanied by Mr. Mohd Noor Zaky Mohd Nasir, Counsellor of the Embassy of Malaysia in Abu Dhabi and Mr. Mohd Fadly Amri Aliaman, Consul-General, Dubai Ms. Esther Liew of NRECC met with Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, CEO of UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA). YBhg. Dato' Mohamad Razif and Ms. Liew, were in Abu Dhabi to attend the 12th Meeting of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) that took place on 23-24 May 2023. 

The UICCA is a think-tank established by the UAE Government to address the climate change challenges, provide innovation-led solutions, bridge gaps and to serve as a platform for engagement between the UAE government, private sectors, NGOs and other stakeholders. Both sides exchanged experiences and strategies in addressing the climate change challenges and explored ways of collaboration in sustainable and renewable energy sector. The Malaysian side also affirmed our support to UAE as the host of COP28 and looks forward to the convening of COP28 in Dubai this year.
