On 1 December 2023, Their Majesties, accompanied by HRH Crown Pince of Pahang, HH Prince Fahd Ahmad Shah, YB Minister of MITI attended the Opening Session of the World Climate Action Summit (WCAS) of COP28 at Expo City, Dubai.
Their Majesties also attended the High-Level Segment at Al Hairat Plenary to listen to the National Statements by world leaders. At the session, leaders updated their country's progress and pledges in addressing the climate issues.
One of the main issues discussed during the conference is the operationalization of the loss and damage fund - a fund that would help compensate vulnerable countries coping with loss and damage caused by climate change, a breakthrough on the first day of this year’s UN climate conference.
