“The world will get to know Azerbaijan more” – Roslan Abdul Rahman

Many athletes from near and far Muslim countries will compete in various kind of sports at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games to start in Azerbaijan in these days. However, some countries could not send their athletes to participate at the mentioned event or limited the number of the athletes due to economic-social or other reasons. But of course, most of the Muslim countries are interested in participating at the Games and gaining victory. One of those countries is friendly country Malaysia.
Although Malaysia is geographically located far from our country, we have close relations and we always feel the support of this friendly country in all fields. Malaysia, as a country always contributing to Muslim unity and development, will participate with its athletes at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Azerbaijan.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Roslan Abdul Rahman exclusively told “Hafta Ichi” newspaper that the athletes of his country will participate at the Islamic Games with great enthusiasm. “33 athletes from Malaysia will be participating in 7 tournaments which are swimming, athletics, weightlifting, tennis, boxing, judo and karate” – said the diplomat and added that he hopes Malaysian athletes will be successful in the tournaments.
It is not a secret that any international event, as well as, sport competitions are usually organized in the countries which are stable in military-public-political terms. If such grand sport competitions are held in Azerbaijan, it means that the world community appreciates the stable and safe environment in Azerbaijan. Moreover, such global events give economic-political benefit to the hosting country.
Ambassador Roslan Abdul Rahman is confident that hosting the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games will benefit Azerbaijan politically and economically. “Politically, it will definitely put Azerbaijan on to the map of the world. It is also a showcase for Azerbaijan, a dynamic country which is able to organize international games continuously after the 1st European Games and the “Baku Formula 1”. The world will get to know Azerbaijan more and this will lead to the people wanting to visit this beautiful country. Indirectly, the increase in tourism will definitely increase the country’s economy.” He also added that the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games would definitely give a positive impact on Azerbaijan both politically and economically.
Unfortunately, today Islamic geography is facing with bloody wars and millions of innocent people are displaced from their own homes. The importance of holding Islamic Games for consolidation and cooperation of the Muslim world is unreplaceable.
Ambassador Roslan Abdul Rahman stated that the cooperation and understanding among the Muslim world are, among others, the two important elements for us to be able to stay united. “Enhancing the cooperation, as well as, consolidation of these elements can be done in many ways. This year, Baku has proven that it has the means to further unite the Muslims by hosting the Islamic Solidarity Games. We congratulate Baku for that and hope that by the hosting of this event, Muslims around the world will be able to benefit and contribute towards the betterment of the Muslim World.”
