Perodua Expects To Sell 300-350 Units Kenari RS A Month

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) expects to sell 300 to 350 units of its newly-launched Kenari range, Kenari RS per month, says its managing director, Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar. He said the car company introduced the Kenari RS in order to provide more choices in the Kenari range to its customers. Perodua currently manages to sell more than 1,000 units of the Kenari range a month, he told reporters after the Kenari RS was launched, here Wednesday.

The Kenari RS' features include brand new rear and front bumpers, side skirtings, an integrated dark chrome grille and fog lamps and new sporty alloy wheels. The latest addition of Kenari range comes only in Ebony black with automatic transmission and is being aimed at young working adults. Hafiz said the company was planning to export the Kenari next year.

At the moment, he said the company was exporting its Myvi car to the United Kingdom (UK) market and was planning to export the same model to Indonesia by middle of next year. He said Perodua expected to export 10,000 units of its cars by 2008. Hafiz said Myvi was Perodua's top selling model with 100,000 units sold as at mid October 2006. He said the overwhelming demand for Myvi and other models has helped the company to be a market leader this year.

Currently, the company holds a 32 percent share of the total industry volume and 42 percent of the passenger car segment and hopes to maintain this next year, he said.
