2024 “ASEAN Partners” Media Cooperation Week kicks off in Guilin

On 8 November 2024, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the 2024 “ASEAN Partners” Media Cooperation Week, at the Guilin Shangri-La Hotel. The event was co-hosted by China Media Group and Guangxi People’s Government.

Over 200 representatives of government agencies, media outlets and think tanks gathered at the forum to engage in discussions on the crucial role of media cooperation in fostering a closer ASEAN-China relations. The media outlets from both sides were able to leverage their respective strengthens and the new technology to enhance mutual understanding and trust, promote people-to-people ties, and play a positive role in the story-telling of ASEAN-China cooperation and development.

The Consul General was interviewed by CGTN Malay, China Media Group following the opening ceremony. He commended the positive role of the event in strengthening media cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. He also underscored that Malaysia can take advantage of this platform to promote Malaysia in addition to exchanging views and technology with China. As Malaysia will assume the ASEAN chairmanship in 2025, the media will play an important role in facilitating Malaysia’s efforts to steering ASEAN forward in strengthening dialogue relations with China and enhancing regional stability and prosperity.

 

 

Also in attendance were Mr. Fan Yun, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Media Group and Editor-in-Chief of CGTN, Ms. Chen Yijun, Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangxi Committee, senior officials of Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand.
