On 26 June 2024, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) for the 21st CAEXPO, at the Howard Johnson (CAEXPO) Plaza, Nanning.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Li An, Deputy Director-General of Department of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Commerce of China and Mr. Abu Bakar Yusof, Deputy CEO of MATRADE as Malaysia will serve as the Country of Honor for the 21st CAEXPO.
The SOM is an annual meeting held in Nanning before the convening of the CAEXPO and serves as a communication mechanism between China and ASEAN member states to facilitate the smooth running of the CAEXPO.
The meeting was followed by a courtesy meeting with H.E. Tan Pichuang, Vice Governor of Guangxi People’s Government.
Up to the meeting date, Malaysia has received confirmation of participation from more than 100 companies, as well as several government agencies and organizations. More activities, such as business meetings with China Construction Bank and live streaming sessions by KOL through various Chinese popular social media, will be organized to increase Malaysia’s visibility and expand Malaysian companies’ networks.
