On 16 April 2026, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in a working dinner with Malaysian delegation, at the A Bu Du Xinjiang Restaurant in Nanning. The delegation was attending the China–Malaysia Strategic Engagement Programme for Public Sector that held from 11 to 17 April 2026 covering Guilin and Nanning, Guangxi.

Co-hosted by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Asia China Education and Culture (ACEC) Association and Guilin University of Electronic Technology, the programme aimed at strengthening cooperation between Malaysia and Guangxi in the fields of education, industry, science and technology, in particular AI and its application.

The seven-day event brought together over 15 participants from Malaysia, including Ms. Hizatul Haliza binti Hashim, Director of Capacity Development and Agricultural Training Division, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), and officials from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as representatives from UPM and other local organizations and companies.

During the dinner, the Consul General highlighted that the event is a good initiative to enhance academic exchange, unlock new opportunities in AI-driven solutions and foster mutually beneficial partnerships between Malaysia and China in emerging technologies.
