On 18 August 2025, the ASEAN Consuls General in Shanghai gathered together at the Royal Thai Consulate-General for the Flag Raising Ceremony in conjunction with the 58th ASEAN Day. The ceremony was also attended by the Director of Consular Affairs Department of the Foreign Affairs Office, Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Mr. Liang Lei.
The Consul General, Mr. Mohd Shahafeez Shaharis had the honour to deliver remarks on behalf of Malaysia in its capacity as the Chair of ASEAN this year. He highlighted some of the significant milestones achieved during Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, including the adoption of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future and the historic inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit.
The Consulate also took the opportunity to promote durian products, showcasing Malaysia’s agricultural excellence and rich heritage.
