On 15 May 2026, Consul General, Mr. Mohd Shahafeez Shaharis received a courtesy visit from the Biliary Atresia Malaysia Association (BAMA), led by its Chairman, Encik Mudzaffar Shah Ali. The session was also attended by officers, medical specialists and paediatric transplant surgeons from the National Transplant Centre (NTC) and various hospitals in Malaysia.
During the meeting, the Consul General was briefed on the delegation's socio-clinical visit to Renji Hospital. The visit aimed to establish a strategic collaboration focused on expertise and technology transfer.
The Consul General acknowledged the initiative taken by BAMA and the attending medical experts to expand government health facilities for liver transplant treatments. He reaffirmed the Consulate’s support for these efforts, which will provide better opportunities for children requiring specialized treatment in Malaysia.
