On 20 May 2026, Consul General, Mr. Mohd Shahafeez Shaharis received a courtesy call from representatives of the Nantong Foreign Affairs Office and the Nantong Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. The delegation was led by the Section Chief of Asia Affairs, Mr. Gu Qiankang and the Deputy Director, Mr. Qin Xiao.
During the meeting, both parties discussed ongoing cooperation between Malaysia and Nantong in the areas of trade, investment, education and tourism. Additionally, the delegation invited Malaysia to participate in the 7th Nantong Marine Engineering Industry Exhibition, scheduled for September this year.
